Day 6 - Land of the Dead

Just finished watching Land of the Dead for #undeadOctober. It was another one that I had not seen yet and I really don't know how I missed it. Instead of taking place during the zombie outbreak, this one takes place much later. Society has tried to rebuild but the corrupt rule and the weak are left as beggars. The zombies have had a lot of time to think and they are starting to change as well, turning into somewhat of a society themselves. The movie picks up right as the zombies really start to organize.

The movie turned out to be pretty awesome. I like the idea of the zombies slowly becoming more intelligent or at least used to their current situation. Many were trying to do activities that they used to do in real life like pump gas or play music in a band. It made them seem just a little more human compared to zombies in other movies. I think this movie was a lot of fun and is one that I would watch again. If you have not seen it then you should check it out.

As for the zombies, they were pretty standard. It was hard to tell since they never showed it, but it sounds like these are what I would call "Walking Dead" zombies since a person is turned into a zombie if they die at all. And yes I know this movie came out first, but they are the ones who really made that type of zombie popular. I am not 100% sure if the zombies in the movie were like that, but they did mention it at the beginning. All they said is that a bite makes you turn faster.

I have never really been a big fan of the "everyone is a zombie once you die" idea. It just doesn't make any sense to me why everyone would be infected already. And I am saying "infected" because they did say a bite does speed up the process. So it isn't like moonbeams or solar flares brining the dead back to life. It really is just some infection that somehow everyone already has. I can't really hold it against this movie though since they never showed anyone turning from just dying.

Zombie Summary:
- Creation: Death (Bite speeds up process)
- Origin: Unknown
- Infection type: Unknown (most likely virus or bacteria)
- Speed of Zombie: Slow walk
- Destruction: Headshot or destruction of the brain
- Causes end of the world: Yes

Keep watching for more zombie reviews as we finish out the month. And make sure to let us know if you have any ideas of zombie movies we should watch!
